I was just sitting on the balcony and I saw a bird — I think it was a crow.
It was carrying a stick in its beak that was clearly weighing it down. It was struggling
to make it to the top of the PWC building, where it seemed to be heading. It did eventually
carry it all the way to the top of the PWC building.
I noticed when it landed, it was with another bird (probably its mate). When the guy
with the stick in its beak flew away, I was just thinking about how this bird went through
all this trouble to get the heavy stick all the way up there to where I presume it has,
or is in the process of making, a nest. And then, as soon as the maintenance people who
work on the building find the nest, they will likely just destroy it.
Kind of sad how we tear down the trees that were here before, where the birds used to live,
then build a building and not even let the birds live there. So they have nowhere to live.
I was just thinking it'd be a cool Pixar short or something that could start with
the birds living in a tree. Then, as time passes, someone would come destroy the trees
and forests, and some buildings would go up in their place. The birds would roam around
looking for somewhere to stay, and eventually come back to the area and try to set up
their home on top of the building.
You'd see them starting to build their nest and settle in, but one day they would
come home and the nest would be completely gone. Didn’t think too much about where
it goes from there. Maybe they end up finding an eco-friendly Amazon plastic bird’s
nest that the company ordered, and it’s left up to us as the viewer to decide if that’s right.
Should they be forced to live in this artificial home we manufactured for them,
or should we have left the forests alone in the beginning?
